Swindon Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) is a partnership of organisations that work with children and young people in Swindon. It has a statutory responsibility for overseeing how agencies work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of Swindon’s children and young people.
They are looking to appoint two volunteer Lay Members to the Board to:-
- Support public engagement in local child safety issues
- Contribute to an improved understanding of the LSCB’s child protection work in the wider community
- Challenge the LSCB on the accessibility by the public and children and young people of its plans and procedures
- Help to make links between the LSCB and community groups
No formal qualifications are required but lay members will need to live in Swindon. They will need to participate fully in the work of the Board, ask constructive questions and give an informed opinion.
The successful candidates will be offered training and an induction and will need to undergo a Disclosure & Barring Service check. The post is unpaid and will involve attending Board meetings (held 4 times per year), for which reasonable expenses will be reimbursed, and possibly some other meetings, depending on personal interests and skills.
For more information, please go to the Swindon LSCB website at www.swindonlscb.org.uk or contact Lesley Boorman, LSCB Business Manager, on 01793 466839. Closing date for applications: September 8 2014
