Receiving recognition from others is always very rewarding so I was thrilled when I found out that the team were to be shortlisted for one of the annual Cabinet Office Awards in the Above and Beyond category.
Although we are a small team it wasn’t possible for all of us to attend the award ceremony in Admiralty House but for the four of us who did it was an honour to be in such a prestigious venue representing the team.
We were nominated for the work we do with the vulnerable and excluded citizens, helping them with the first steps towards finding a job, opening the door to new possibilities and a fulfilling future. Luckily we didn’t have to give a speech or the list of thank yous would have been endless. We can only do what we do by harnessing your skills, knowledge and enthusiasm so thank you for all your help and support. It is testament to everyone’s hard work that we get results.
Although we didn’t win we were not too disappointed as we were up against some exceptional nominations.
It’s accolades such as this, as well as hearing about the difference we make from those whose lives we touch, that makes our role so worthwhile and makes us proud to be part of a brilliant Civil Service.
