People development opportunities

Here our latest opportunities to build your capability through giving some time to Civil Service Local . . .

Homelessness project

We will be running our second Homelessness project at Oak Tree House in Lancaster during February 2017.

If you'd like to help, you need to be able to commit to 1 day a week for 4 to 5 weeks through to March 2017.

It’s a great opportunity to offer some support to local citizens at a vulnerable time in their lives. The experience will test your communication and interpersonal skills whilst working as part of a cross-government team, build your capability in the process. We will meet in late January for an orientation session. We will also be expanding the project during April and May to work with a new homeless shelter. So if you're not available to help in Lancaster, please do still get in touch.

Please discuss the commitment and your local business needs with your manager. Then, get in touch for more details.

Communications team

Following recent changes to our team to focus resources on different projects, we are now looking for talented individuals to help us continue to communicate with our audiences in an engaging and informative way.

We need people who can write and edit content, understand and make the best use of social media and create innovative communications products to help us implement our communications strategy. You will write articles, attend events and produce publicity materials. This is a great opportunity for anyone with an interest in communications to focus on those skills and develop them whilst helping us share our key messages, educate our region about the Civil Service vision and encourage more people to get involved in our programme.

If you have the necessary skills, or if you would like to learn more about web publishing and other communications tools and channels whilst supporting us, then please do contact us for more information and to discuss how much time you can commit to this work.

Again, please do discuss this commitment and your local business needs with your manager before getting in touch.

We look forward to hearing from you.
