Midlands Future Leaders Academy 2019

Civil Service Local Academy logo

We are pleased to announce details of our 2019 Future Leaders Academy, a unique opportunity for grades AA to EO to develop leadership skills.

The Midlands Academy will provide an opportunity for staff to develop both personal and collective skills in support of the Civil Service Vision. It will provide delegates with the opportunity to work collaboratively with civil servants from other government departments based in the Midlands.

Successful candidates will attend a four day residential event, leading to a series of business-focused projects over the following twelve months, with the potential for some ad hoc work thereafter.

We are looking for staff up to and including first line manager level (AA to EO) who are keen and have the passion and motivation to develop.

They should be proactive, willing to challenge attitudes and behaviours and be enthusiastic about creating and leading change.

They should have the potential to become leaders who are positive, dynamic role models for all civil servants.

The Academy has the Civil Service values of honesty, integrity, impartiality and objectivity at the heart of everything we do. The business projects that will be carried forward post-event will support the Civil Service Vision and the three high level leadership behaviours every civil servant needs in order to deliver excellent public services:

  • Inspiring
  • Confident
  • Empowering

The event will be a mix of self- awareness, personal development and ideas production with the delegates working together in cross-departmental teams to identify and present a project to a ‘Dragons Den’ style panel.

A number of keynote speakers and Dragons will be invited to participate in the programme, which promises to be a lively, challenging and exciting event!

Where: Nottingham University. NG7 2RD

When: 3 September to to 6 September

The Process Applications are now open and will close on 9th August.

Discuss your application with your line manager, complete this form and send to cslocalmidlands@cabinetoffice.gov.uk

Hi Tilly, the cost of the 4 day residential element of the academy is met from a central budget. The individual's departments will have to fund travel costs for this and any T&S associated with the few additional days over the following year.
