CS Connect in Sheffield

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: North East, Yorkshire and the Humber

A Brilliant Civil Service cardCivil Service Connect is coming to Vulcan House in Sheffield on 26 March 2020 and we want you to get involved.

This event seeks to provide an opportunity for civil servants to find out more about departments, learn about subjects relevant to a cross-departmental audience and develop new skills. There will be a marketplace of departmental stalls together with short workshop sessions on a variety of relevant subjects, some inspirational speakers and the opportunity to network and make new contacts.

The theme of the event is 'A Brilliant Civil Service'.

How can you get involved?

Would you like the opportunity to tell and inspire colleagues from across the Civil Service about some of the great work that you are doing? We are looking for people who can host an engaging market stall or deliver short workshop sessions on the themes of Skilled People, Improved Outcomes, Effective Leaders and A Great Place to Work all of which underpin 'A Brilliant Civil Service'.

Exhibit

Having an exhibition stand at CS Connect is one of the many ways you can share and exchange ideas. Stands should be an engaging and interactive place where those attending can hear about the work that you do to make ‘A Brilliant Civil Service’.

We would like to hear what is happening in your department and suggested topics could include Leadership and Management, Inclusion, Personal Growth and Knowledge or Health, Wellbeing & Resilience. However, you are not restricted to these. If you would like to exhibit at CS Connect, please email Kelly Roush for an Expression of Interest form.

Deliver an interactive session

We are keen to ensure as much of the great practice, innovation and progress achieved by government departments and agencies is shared as widely as possible. Interactive sessions should last approximately 45 minutes so that colleagues can hear about cross-departmental subjects and issues. In addition, we will build in time for Q&A.

What topics could an interactive session cover?

This is an opportunity to delve deeper into the four themes so that colleagues can learn about best practice and be inspired to do things differently.

  • Great leadership is one of the keys to a more effective and efficient Civil Service. This could provide an opportunity  to explore and share experiences and expectations of leaders in the ever changing environment of the Civil Service.
  • Delivering the best results through the delivery of efficient services that are based around user need is an important feature of 'A Brilliant Civil Service'. This is a chance to tell colleagues what your department is doing to deliver best practice in public service delivery and the skills and approaches needed to achieve improved outcomes
  • Investing in our people underpins the vision for 'A Brilliant Civil Service'. This is a great opportunity to showcase what your team or department is doing around career development so that staff can continue to develop the skills they need to meet the demands of a modern Civil Service, and how can we best develop our talent.
  • The vision for a Brilliant Civil Service recognises that the Civil Service needs to be a great place to work. This is a chance to  inspire others by talking about the work taking place to increase social mobility and widen the diversity of our workforce

We hope that this has inspired you to deliver a session and if you would like to do so, please email Kelly Roush for an Expression of Interest form.

The positivity and creativity that results when colleagues work together is visible. We hope that you can take part.
