Volunteering by civil servants is an important part of the government white paper on giving. In the North East we are bringing together local schemes looking for volunteers in your area.

To apply please email a completed expression of interest form to Michele Crawford. You must include confirmation of approval from your line manager.

Current opportunities

DePaul
What: helping young people who are homeless, vulnerable or disadvantaged.

Young Enterprise in the north east
What: help inspire and equip young people to learn and succeed through the creation of small businesses developed and run by pupils. Volunteers are needed for programmes at the following schools:

  • Bowburn Infants
  • Bowburn Juniors
  • Kelloe Primary
  • Deafhill Primary
  • Sedgefield Hardwick Primary
  • Sedgefield Primary
  • St Williams Primary (Trimdon)
  • St Helen Auckland
  • St Francis Church of England Junior School (Newton Aycliffe)
  • Black Hall Colliery Primary
  • Esh Winning Primary
  • St Stephen's Primary (Willington)

The programmes are 5 hours long and can be run 1 hour a week for 5 weeks, 2 half days or even 1 day depending on the school.  There is some preparation needed so if you can spare 10 hours of your life to inspire the future generation please email the completed expression of interest form to Michèle Crawford.
