Here in the north west we're a great big family that’s used to working together, but now it’s time to play together – all for a very good cause.
I'm really excited about us holding our first ever Family Fun Day.
It starts at 10.00 on Sunday 7 September 2014 at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk.
The original idea was to have an inter-departmental football event - and we still have that - so we're looking for 7-a-side teams to play on the day. It's since grown from that and we're planning a fun-packed day for everyone - even if you don't like football. There's much more going on - from face-painting to cake sales, fresh produce, raffles and a tombola.
It's a chance for us to make a difference in our community too. We'll be raising money for two good causes on the day - St Catherine’s Hospice in Preston and Trinity Hospice in Blackpool. Both these organisations have helped us deliver our Government Access Programme so it'll be a wonderful opportunity to say thank you to them.
Other partners joining us on the day will be the wonderful National Offender Management Service’s Search Dogs Team (Twitter: @NOMSK9) who'll be giving a demonstration of their own unique skills. They were a big hit at Civil Service Live in Liverpool, but they'll really get a chance to shine by showing us what they can do outdoors.

There promises to be something for everyone on the day and everyone’s welcome.
We look forward to seeing old friends and new and to raising as much money as possible.
