Kath Flint from HMRC in Norwich has been volunteering for Young Enterprise for 18 years now. The great news is that Kath has received a Gold Award from Young Enterprise ‘for making an outstanding contribution to the work of Young Enterprise’. She received the award at an East of England Competition awards event in Cambridge.
Kath describes how she has found volunteering to be not only personally rewarding, but it has also enabled her to develop new skills:
I have delivered workshops to the students on how to complete accounts (profit and loss and balance sheet) and a Company Report for over 5 years now. I have realised how important it is to be aware of your customer expectations and adapt my communication and IT to ensure it is business-like, fun but most important it gets the message across. The Reports and Accounts produced by the students have improved immensely over the years so the investment in time and planning has been worthwhile.
