Volunteer with Crisis in Sheffield

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: North East, Yorkshire and the Humber

We all know that recruitment and promotion processes can be difficult and are never stress free. Many of us have struggled to get through an interview – we can over prepare, get tongue tied or just lose our way! We have a volunteering opportunity that gives you the chance to see an interview from ‘the other side of the table’.

Crisis works with people who live in temporary accommodation in Sheffield and aims to help individuals to cope with life on their own. They run a "Stand out from the crowd" course to help their clients in developing their employability skills.

This is where you fit in. Crisis wants civil servants to help them conduct 'mock' interviews and feedback for their clients. The interviews are based on generic jobs and standard questions are used to ensure consistency - very similar to the civil service recruitment process.

A similar scheme has been running with Crisis in Coventry and Birmingham for over 6 months and the feedback from all concerned has been extremely positive, including from a Client Support Manager:

Everyone involved on the day showed great professionalism and a genuine desire to help our clients move forward.  We were able to provide some quality feedback to help our clients improve their prospects of moving into employment.

The first session is planned for Thursday 4 December at a central location in Sheffield.  Read the information pack for more details and how to apply.
