On the 13th June, civil servants based at Eastbrook in Cambridge will be hosting a learning session for primary school children led by Enabling Enterprise.
Enabling Enterprise are a social enterprise that seeks to give students an insight into the world of work and inspire them to think about their future careers.
Participating children from a local primary school will be given the chance to undertake some fun learning activities that will help them to understand more about different job roles, with a particular focus on opportunities within the Civil Service.
We are looking for volunteers to be on hand to support the youngsters during the day, which runs from 09:45 to 14:00. You don't need to devise any content as that will all be provided by the Enabling Enterprise staff, many of whom are former teachers. But your presence is really valued as you can help to answer their questions and give them encouragement. As part of the day the children will be given a quick tour of their workplace so they can see for themselves what it is really like!
Hannah from DfE, a volunteer at a previous event commented;
"The children seemed to really enjoy it. The two teachers from Enabling Enterprise were amazing at running the event, engaging the children and letting the CS volunteers and the teachers know what they wanted us to do. I really enjoyed it too, and would encourage others to use their volunteering days to support these events."
