Volunteer to support Charities on the Fylde

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: North West England

Business In The Community is leading a project to recruit Civil Servants to support Charities across Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde by recruiting trustees.

A number of charities across the area reported that they needed skilled people to help them with their cause – Civil Servants have many of the skills and will develop others through undertaking this interesting and rewarding role.

Charities fulfil a hugely varied role in today’s society.  Trustees help lead and guide the Charity to ensure it’s doing what it was set up to do.  Whether it is submitting a funding bid, recruiting staff, moving premises or planning for the future, charities need skilled people to be trustees.

Ian Fogg is seconded from DWP to Business In The Community in Blackpool and managing this project.  Ian says

the role is developmental in offering opportunities to learn about the sector, new skills and experience which is equally relevant back in the office.  Being a Trustee is rewarding and provides the chance to put back in to the community and seeing behind the scenes how the charity works and how it supports its customers.

For people interested in finding out a bit more background on the role before committing, Ian has arranged three "more information" sessions, being held at the Blackpool CVS offices in Abingdon Street on:

- Wednesday 15th October

- Thursday 30th October

- Tuesday 4th November

Please get in touch if you would like more information or to come along to a session  – they are at various times and last an hour or so. Read our flyer promoting the event.

Telephone 07917 270561 or email Ian Fogg.
