I am a member of the "Quills family" - cross-government group of civil servants brought together back in September 2014 at the Civil Service Local Academy in Preston. After coming up with our original idea at the event, our project is now focusing on improving the public perception of the Civil Service.
Along with the rest of my fellow Quills, I noticed during an exercise at the Academy that there were some negative stories about the public sector in general in the media. We want to help to change that by using social media and open days to highlight positive stories about the Civil Service.
I'm pleased to be able to say that we're starting off by using twitter. We want to encourage our colleagues to tweet good news stories about the public sector and Civil Service using the hashtag #OpeningDoorsCSNW
I'm hoping we can showcase the positive impact the Civil Service makes on a daily basis. We want to encourage a feeling of pride for civil servants by increasing the visibility of positive news about the work we do.
All tweets must comply with the civil service code, the cabinet office guidance on government use of social media and also the rules and restrictions of your area of work.
I look forward to reading them, favouriting them and re-tweeting them.
