Come to the Lincoln Academy

The next Civil Service Academy in the East Midlands will be held from 18-21 May at HMRCs college, Lawress Hall, Lincoln. I recently helped deliver the first Welsh Academy held at RAF St Athan. What an event that was, full of surprises. The most memorable ranged from being presented with a pile of bed linen on day one and making my own bed to hearing a really inspiring talk from Olly Robbins (Director General for the Civil Service). I expected at least some moans and groans about the accommodation (no TV, no kettle), but there weren't any, if anything, it seemed to bring people together even more. There was a healthy level of caution at the beginning of the week but by day 2, the noise and enthusiasm had risen considerably including a speech from one delegate on day 3 explaining how his view of the event had transformed from being sceptical to a total convert. He and others commented on how it was one of the best experiences in their working life. So if you've been lucky enough to get a place at our event in May, you can look forward to what might be a life changing experience.

If you are disappointed that you haven't been able to get a place at this years event, due to concellations, we still have a couple of places open. Contact Janice Smith if you are interested to see if the places are still available.

I'm just finishing my Academy year having been to Lawress Hall in May 2014. My top tip... go with an open mind, be inspired and have some fun!
