Twenty Twenty, an East Midlands charity working with disadvantaged and disengaged young people is looking for a variety of volunteers of all ages to mentor young people aged 10-19 years.
You will be trained to mentor young people in your community who need the support and guidance of trustworthy adult role models. Through a 1 year professional friendship, mentors help young people to build the confidence, self esteem and desire to make and sustain progress in their lives.
Many young people feel they have limited life choices, find it difficult to engage positively in education or employment and may even be at risk of displaying anti-social behaviour. But, consistent weekly support of a mentor can make a huge difference and help a young person aspire to achieve more.
Mentoring can help you too. In addition to acquiring new skills, it can be fulfilling to gain the trust of a young person and see them flourish because of your advice and information.
