Discover: Vision 21 in Manchester, 5 June

Posted by: and , Posted on: - Categories: North West England

Our next bite-sized learning “discovery session” is this week and focuses on Vision 21 - the vision for the Civil Service going forward.

Ben Rake from the Cabinet Office will join our Civil Service Local team to lead an interactive session and we’re looking forward to welcoming colleagues of all grades. You’ll hear about the reform journey so far and current plans for the future - plans you can help to build.

We have come a long way in the two years since launching Civil Service Reform and the Cabinet Office are now preparing . This will be a chance for you to share your journey so far, and contribute towards shaping the future.

It’s also a chance for you to learn more about Civil Service reform, opportunities in the Civil Service, and to meet with colleagues from other government departments.

There are two sessions at 10.30 am and at 1.30 pm:

Date: Thursday 5 June 2014.

Venue: Manchester Civil Justice Centre, Bridge Street West, Manchester. M60 9DJ.

Reserve your place now by e-mailing: CSLOCALNW.DISCOVERYSESSIONS@DWP.GSI.GOV.UK

(Be sure to type “Discovery Session” and the session time in the subject line of your e-mail.)

Please bring your own refreshments and remember to discuss your attendance with your line manager before emailing us.

Hi Julie, this session was organised with a very tight timescale and apologies you received the email late. Emails were sent to various departments a couple of days before the event in a bid to increase numbers. Each department then cascaded this message and I can only assume that coupled with our tight timeline and your departments internal distribution, you have received the email late. However, we are looking to run these events again, where we will have more control over the scheduling so I don't expect this situation to re- occur. Thank you for letting us know.

Unfortunately I knew absolutely nothing about these sessions until I was looking through these pages today. I work for the MOJ and these sessions were held in a MOJ building so I'm doubly confused as to why they were not publicised more widely through my department. Is there a way of being notified of upcoming information sessions or L&D opprtunities? I now receive the weekly email about CS local but I'm not sure if there is a way to be alerted about specific events.
    Thanks

Alison, if you go to the top level of the north west posts and then in the right hand column click on Email the short form there will allow you to subscribe to all new blogs entries about the north west. You could also subscribe to particular themes or go the top level and subscribe to all Civil Service Local posts from around the country. The email cascade system through departments can take a little time but this way you can get it direct from us as it's published.

Although the ones currently advertised here have passed please be aware that Discovery Sessions are a continuous programme in the North West with new subjects and being planned on a ongoing basis. We are hoping to publlish the full programme on the web site shortly, but in the meantime if you are interested attending a Discovery Session near where you work, please send a email expressing your interest to: CSLOCALNW.DISCOVERYSESSIONS@DWP.GSI.GOV.UK and one of the team will get back to you with more information.
