Still time to apply for the Academy 2018

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: North East, Yorkshire and the Humber

Are you looking for ways to develop skills that can be transferred between departments? Would you like to work alongside civil servants from across departments in the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber and have the support of your own mentor?

The CS Local Leadership Academy 2018 could be the opportunity for you.

Background

The vision for a Brilliant Civil Service  is to have effective leaders who are inspiring, confident and empowering and skilled people who are high-performing, adaptable and take personal responsibility.  The Academy is for those who have shown potential to become a manager and leader but could benefit from further development.

What is the Academy?

The Academy is a cross-departmental opportunity, open to AA/AO and equivalent grades and EO with little or no experience to management.
The programme is for 12 months and consists of action learning modules based on the four pillars of the vision for the civil service: Skilled People, Effective Leaders, A Great Place to Work and Improved Outcomes. It also includes elements of the Competence Framework - Collaborating and Partnering, Communicating, Leading and Building Capability, as well as the civil service Leadership Statement.

The modules will take place in Newcastle for the North East delegates and Leeds for the Yorkshire and Humber delegates.

What Support Will I Receive?

Academy Project Groups

You will receive support from a mentor from another department to help you make the most of your learning and give you new perspectives. You will work with a group of civil servants from other departments to develop and take part in a project on a theme from the vision.  This enables participants to develop skills that can be transferred between departments and establish networks to develop an appreciation of the wider civil service.

How to Apply

To find out more please read the Academy Applicant and Manager Guidance and the timetable for the North East or the Yorkshire and the Humber programmes and discuss with your Line Manager.

You can also read the experiences of a North East and Yorkshire and the Humber delegate.

If you and your Line Manager agree that this is an appropriate opportunity for you please request an application form from Kelly Roush. The deadline for completed applications is Friday 27 October 2017.
