We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the CS Local Future Leaders Academy. This could be the opportunity you are looking for to develop your leadership skills, working alongside civil servants from across departments in the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber with the support of your own mentor.

What is the Academy?

group at a previous academyThe Future Leaders Academy is for those who have shown potential to become a manager and leader but could benefit from further development. It supports the vision for a Brilliant Civil Service  which is to have inspiring, confident and empowering leaders and skilled people who take personal responsibility.   The Academy is a cross-departmental opportunity, open to administrative and executive officer and equivalent grades.

The programme is for 12 months and consists of action learning modules based on the four pillars of the vision for the civil service: Skilled People, Effective Leaders, A Great Place to Work and Improved Outcomes, as well as the Civil Service Leadership Statement.

The modules will take place in Newcastle for delegates from the North East and Leeds for those from  Yorkshire and Humber delegates.

Delegates will receive support from a mentor and will work with a facilitator and group of civil servants from other departments to develop and take part in a project on a theme from the vision.  This enables participants to develop skills that can be transferred between departments and establish networks to develop an appreciation of the wider civil service.

How do I apply?

Please read the Academy Delegate and Line Manager Guidance and the timetable for the North East or the Yorkshire and the Humber programmes and discuss with your Line Manager.

If you and your Line Manager agree that this is an appropriate opportunity for you please request an expression of interest form from Anne Hunter. The deadline for completed applications is Wednesday 23 October 2019.
