Do you have a passion to help improve our environment? Can you help make a difference by encouraging the changes we as an organisation need to make? Would you like to help others to be more environmentally aware? If you answered yes then this is a great opportunity for you to be part of the new East, South East and London (ESEL) Environmental Network.
2020 is the Year of Climate Action - an opportunity for you?
CS Local (ESEL) wants to challenge the 148,000 civil servants in our region to play a part in driving changes in behaviour and attitudes both across our organisations and in wider society.
The network has already held its inaugural meeting but if we want to make a bigger difference we need more of you to get involved. We are looking for people who want to make a difference and have the drive and determination to help make the necessary changes we as an organisation need to make, in order to be more environmentally aware.
If this is a subject that you are especially passionate about, and want a chance to build your own leadership skills, then CS Local (ESEL) are looking for people like you to help lead this network.
So, what is a CS Local network?
CS Local has a number of established cross departmental networks, which bring together civil servants and representatives of the public sector with specific expertise and shared interests.
The Environmental Network objectives are to:
- Provide a collective voice to influence local, regional and national policy
- Share information, ideas, knowledge and personal experience
- Share national and local practice and ideas
- Develop a greater understanding of environmentally sustainable solutions and options
- Facilitate innovation and creative working in the environmental space
- Promote greater collaboration and joint working
- Create a forum to raise concerns
- Create, share and promote event information
The Environmental Network operates in partnership with Civil Service Local. It also helps to deliver our aspirations to build capability among staff, open up opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration, and help to build a stronger Civil Service culture.
Interested and want to get involved
By joining the Network you will be expected to participate in meetings at least quarterly, engage with similarly passionate people from across a range of government departments and agencies. The Network is also looking for you to share ideas on how we can make the Civil Service, and wider society, more environmentally friendly.
It offers a great way for you to build your skills and confidence working on a crucial agenda. Potentially this will provide you with great new working examples to share with line managers and for future job applications. It will also enable you to build a much wider set of contacts across the whole Civil Service.
So, it is over to you! Please contact us to get involved and let’s start to make that difference.
