**STOP PRESS - we now have secured a lead for the Diversity & Inclusion network, and a sponsor for the Learning & Development network....plenty of room for more members across all the networks though... https://twitter.com/CSLocalScotland/status/1025383227442253824 **
Towards the end of the summer / early Autumn we hope to mobilise a few cross-government networks across a few core topics - these contribute to our objectives around 'Connecting' Civil Servants and also building 'Capability'.
Networks are a great way to learn about other parts of the Civil Service, and build your personal networks for career planning purposes. They also offer the opportunity to share best practice from your Department, learn from other Departments in terms of what to avoid, provide a professional support network for you, and give the chance to showcase your subject or take-on a project / commission from a business unit and work on it as part of your cross-government network team.
The beauty of the networks is that within the overall subject, you set the priorities / agenda - so whether it be something that you are really passionate about, or something you know is on the horizon for your Department - you have a cross-government team around you to discuss / support you in a positive, pro-active way.
Interested? We have the following 'positions' available right now on the following networks:
Continuous Improvement (regardless of what it is called in your Department, this is about improving the way we do things) - we need a couple more volunteer network members for this network, it has a senior sponsor and a project lead ready and waiting!
Diversity & Inclusion - positions available for a network lead, and network members.
Learning & Development - position available for a senior sponsor (G6/7), and network members.
In addition, the following networks are meeting in August, get in touch with the senior sponsor if you are interested in joining:
Social Mobility - Richard.Ireland471@mod.uk
Engagement - tammy.baillie@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk
These networks will contribute greatly to the 'community' feel of the Civil Service in Scotland. In terms of time commitment, the intention is that they meet every couple of months with perhaps a day of planning / research / preparation etc between so overall a commitment of no more than 1-2 days a month, and with the exception of the network meetings, completely flexible alongside your core role.
