Discovery Sessions are a series of interactive talks and learning events, each lasting a couple of hours. Colleagues have the opportunity to hear about cross-departmental subjects and issues that affect all of us as Civil Servants. Did you do anything interesting last Friday? I spent the day in prison with Sir Bob Kerslake. That’s to say, I went along to HMP Kirkham, joining other civil servants who met him during his visit to the north west of England, at which he shared the message of Reform.

Luckily for us, 6 young offenders still volunteered to showcase their skills to potential employers by competing in the first ever ‘Bake off’ event between Hindley and Thorncross – two of Her Majesty’s Young Offenders Institutions in the north west of England.
